Executive Transition Coaching

We serve as trusted, confidential advisors to senior executives in transition. Working as a team, we develop a services plan with each executive to ensure our process meets his or her needs. Using this plan as a guide, we partner with each executive in building and implementing a personal career and life strategy.

During a time when many executives feel isolated, we help to clarify goals, build decision criteria based on what is important, identify a personal value proposition, and then boldly pursue and successfully attain the executive’s goals, including an executive or board role, acquiring or starting a business, or building a portfolio career.

Ultimately, we are in the business of improving the decision quality of executives in transition, so that they move from where they are to where they want to be – confidently, efficiently, and with real time advice from an expert who cares.

Executive Transition Coaching Process

Mouse-over the stages for details of a typical process:

Agree on Scope   Build Fact Base   Create Action Plan   Implement Action Plan   Measure Results
Agree on Scope

Transition coaching, depending on the organization’s and executive’s needs, sometimes includes a combination of executive coaching, career strategy coaching and transition implementation coaching support. We excel in situations involving notice periods for an executive, and when the executive is uncertain of next steps and career goals. Each engagement begins with introductory meetings to understand needs and budget, and to build a services plan.
Build Fact Base

We work with the executive on mindset, exit communications, career direction, value proposition, decision criteria, market segmentation and targets, career and leadership assessment, and market requirements for success. Situations which include longer term notice periods for the executive sometimes require ‘classic’ executive coaching to ensure a successful exit.
Create Action Plan

Action plan components can focus on a new executive role, board opportunities, business start-up or acquisition, an entirely new direction, or a career ‘portfolio’ solution. In a traditional job search, support includes resume and Linked In strategy, bio, interviewing strategy, goal setting, and search firm strategy. At the center is a ‘go to market plan’ that lays out activities and timelines, customized for each executive’s goals and situation. We also emphasize development of a learning plan for each executive during the transition period.
Implement Action Plan

We conduct regular weekly meetings with each executive to discuss and prepare for interviews, plan follow up actions, solve problems, review communications, and maintain positive mindset. Activities also include providing networking connections, tracking progress, making strategy and tactics adjustments, brainstorming situations, and advising on negotiations.
Measure Results

We help ensure a successful outcome by establishing decision criteria and providing in-depth decision support. Our success in working with hundreds of senior executive in transition helps to ensure high quality decision results, balanced with time. We provide three months of onboarding coaching with each engagement to further ensure success.

Transition create many questions for executives. We can help you answer these and others:
